nephilim: dictionary

What you'll find here are specific keywords (from Episode I) that relate in some way, to Nephilim.

Encephalon
The word for "brain" in the Greek Language.
The in-game reference is to the simulated environment built inside KOS-MOS' main network.

Miltia
The planet where the war that came to be known as the Miltian Conflict, took place.
Miltia is also Shion's birthplace.

Nephilim
According to the Bible, the sons of fallen angels.
References to the Nephilim can be seen in the Old Testament:
The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of men, and they bore (children) to them. Those were the might men who (were) of old, men of renown. (Genesis 6:4)

Old Miltia
Otherwise known as Miltia.
An area in the galaxy closed off since the Miltian Conflict 14 years ago.

Potential Phenomena
A term mentioned by Nephilim.
In other words, one possible path of the future, since the future has yet to be determined, nothing is definite; only a myriad of possibilities exist.

Song of Nephilim System*
One of several giant machines created by Joachim Mizrahi.
It emits a song-like frequency that only certain individuals can hear, but the actual purpose of this device is yet unknown.
It does, however, curiously reappear throughout the story, be it in the meaning behind the word "madness" uttered by Jr. and Marguilis, or the appearance of a girl with the same name. The fact that Shion saw this device on Miltia as a little girl, only furthers the mystery.

U-DO
The entity depicted as a massive shockwave originating from Old Miltia, in the futuristic version shown to Shion by Nephilim. Judging from the words of Gaignun, Helmer, and Wilhelm, it is clearly related to the incident which occurred 14 years ago. Nephilim claims that the wave is a living consciousness, but the truth is yet to be revealed...

(*: I'm including this because I thought it was interesting how the song that drives people to madness was titled, [The] Song of Nephilim.)
